This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1987 for the release of The Beatles.

An exquisite art print by the renowned master printer and artist Tadanori Yokoo, considered one of the rare gems in the world of art. Yokoo, a prominent Japanese designer during the 1960s and 1970s, is unmatched in his mastery of the medium, drawing comparisons to luminaries like Milton Glaser and Seymour Chwast. Each of his prints is a masterpiece in its own right, meticulously overseen by the artist himself.

This particular print, created as a second edition in 1987 based on an original design from the early 1970s, showcases vibrant and striking colors.

Tadanori Yokoo, born in 1936 in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, is not only a graphic designer and illustrator but also a master printmaker and painter. With a career that began in avant-garde theatre set design in Tokyo, Yokoo's early work reflects influences from the likes of the New York-based Push Pin Studio. However, he attributes his artistic inspiration to filmmaker Akira Kurosawa and writer Yukio Mishima.

In the late 1960s, Yokoo delved into mysticism and psychedelia, a journey further enriched by his travels to India. While some may superficially liken him to Andy Warhol or Peter Max due to his resonance with 60s pop culture, Yokoo's intricate, multi-layered imagery is deeply personal and entirely unique.

By the late 60s, Yokoo had already gained international acclaim for his work, featuring in the 1968 "Word & Image" exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Subsequently, MoMA hosted a solo exhibition of his graphic art four years later. In a surprising turn, he retired from commercial endeavors in 1981 to focus on painting, a facet of his artistic career that continues to flourish with frequent exhibitions.

Today, Tadanori Yokoo remains an influential figure in both fine art and graphic design, showcasing his distinctive creativity and prolific output across various mediums.
