This is an original Japanese poster printed in early 1950`s (almost 70 years ago!) for the first post-war release of Pinocchio. Considering its age, it is in a fantastic near mint condition.

This poster was acquired by Japan Poster Shop, along with many other rare 1950-1970`s posters (all in excellent to near mint condition), from a Japanese supplier near Osaka. The posters were previously carefully stored in a warehouse belonging to an entrepreneur who used to own a cinema until the 1980`s (when it went bankrupt due to the rise in VHS video).

Acquiring this piece is an excellent investment, when investing in Japanese posters, it is always best to invest in the best of the best. This is one of a handful of the finest examples of this poster still in existence

Walt Disney's second animated feature film was made after the success of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). Pinocchio, the world’s most famous wooden puppet, is originally the creation of the Italian writer and social commentator Carlo Collodi. Entitled The Adventures of Pinocchio, the story was initially serialized in the children’s section of a Roman newspaper and, following its popularity, became a book in 1883. When Walt Disney decided to adapt the story to film, Pinocchio had already climbed to widespread fame, but it was not until he was animated that the naughty wooden boy truly became embedded in the popular imagination.
